tween waters Captiva opens after hurricane Ian

All of us at ‘Tween Waters Island Resort & Spa are thrilled to share that last week, more than 130 guests arrived on-property and are occupying the resort’s 137 accommodations for a to-be-determined extended stay. The guests are part of ARS Global Emergency Management Island Base Camp, a disaster recovery and restoration company that will service public and private properties on both Sanibel and Captiva.

As Captiva Island’s largest functional destination, we couldn’t be more honored and delighted to serve as home base for these vital and talented men and women — the heroes who’ll help restore our islands to not only a functional status, but an aesthetic one as well — allowing our tourism-based businesses here to re-open and recover as quickly as possible.

As an added bonus, our TripAdvisor top-rated Old Captiva House chefs will be serving these hard-working men and women more than 500 mails daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And as many of you know from experience, an Old Captiva House meal is sure to be a real treat.

Our resilient reservationists started outreach calls last week and this week are able to begin issuing refunds to guests and bridal parties with upcoming events thanks to the hard work and efforts of our IT team and system partners. We thank you for your continued patience as we begin with those impacted from the week of the hurricane and work our way through the end of the year. If you have not received a call yet, rest assured that one of our amazing team members will be in touch with you soon. Please refrain from chargebacks with your credit card company as it complicates and delays the process.

Finally, one more positive momentum highlight: we anticipate a fully recovery of both our flagship resorts — ‘Tween Waters and West Wind Island Resort of Sanibel — much quicker than we first imagined. The public-private sector cooperation in resorting electricity, water, internet, safety and other infrastructure measures is making this remarkable comeback possible.

Until next week,

Doug Babcock | Chief Executive Officer
