Resorts Recovery Journey | 10.26.22

As we come upon one month since Hurricane Ian, I’m more inspired and motivated each day by our incredible team who are on-property preparing a clean and safe place for our guests to be able to return. To those at Old Captiva House serving three meals a day for the 170-plus ARS Global Emergency Management Island Base Camp crew members, a disaster recovery and restoration company that is servicing public and private properties on both Sanibel and Captiva. And to those SCBR team members working remotely across Lee and Collier Counties, sourcing internet wherever they can find it, to issue reservation date changes, refunds, plan weddings and deliver vital communications — all eager to stay connected with you and keep you up to date on all we’re accomplishing here at Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts.

With their collective effort, we’re pleased and excited to report that Sanibel and Captiva Island residents and business owners — along with repair, construction, renovation and other valuable workers assigned to island projects — are now able to make reservations at ‘Tween Waters Island Resort & Spa effective February 1, 2023. Sanibel and Captiva Island residents, business owners and restoration crews can make reservations online at ‘Tween Waters Island Resort & Spa.

While the islands aren’t yet ready for our beloved visitors and guests, and we await guidance from Lee County relative to tourism guests, we certainly look forward to the day that we can welcome everyone back to our beautiful and recovering islands! In the meantime, and with good news for all of our Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts fans, we’ve launched our new White Pelican online shop that, over time, will feature lots of goodies and gifts and things to remind you of your good times at our resorts and vacation rentals, while bringing a bit of the beach right to your house! Our Branded Tumblers are already on sale, each featuring an SCBR Resort or Island Vacation, and are the perfect way for you to enjoy your memories of the islands with your favorite chilled (or even hot) beverage. Shop now and cheers!

Lastly, while we continue to work on the restoration of West Wind Island Resort (which will take quite some time), Beachview Cottages and Castaways Cottages experienced significant damage and destruction, particularly cottages closer to the beach, making their recovery a much longer journey. While we all miss and mourn the loss of the cottages at Beachview and Castaways, rest assured that we’re ready and committed to rebuilding all of our four beach properties into a renewed, reimagined, reenergized form of themselves.

Please note: Our reservations team is actively reaching out to all guests with upcoming reservations to issue refunds and offer date changes where possible. Please avoid contacting your credit card provider, as this can cause confusion or frustration on your part, or delay your refund.

Until next week,

Doug Babcock | Chief Executive Office
