My husband, and I were married in 2011, remarriages for both of us. We didn’t have time for a honeymoon as he was (and still is) active duty military. His family lived several generations on Sanibel, and continue to reside in Fort Myers & Naples. In fact, our youngest attends FGCU. So when the Army stationed us in Miami, we knew that we had to carve out some time on Sanibel for our 10 year anniversary and belated honeymoon. During our amazing stay April 2021 in cottage #2 at Beachview Cottages, my husband introduced me to the miraculous shells, even capturing me doing the various Sanibel stoops. We enjoyed morning coffee every morning on the beach just a few steps from our cottage and wine with the sunsets. We even found his family’s former homes while riding our bikes around the island, burning calories from delicious foods! My husband had visited Sanibel only once since joining the Army in 1982 – we will cherish our stay at Beachview Cottages!

We had the pleasure of visiting Beachview Cottages in May 2006. It was myself, my fiance and his parents. Little did they know that this trip to the beach would be one to remember.
We had a surprise…. we had plans to get married on the beach! We enjoyed the week and our suprise was wonderful. Our 1st and only visit to the island will always hold a special place. These coordinates of the beach will always remind me of our time there.
We have talked about taking our boys to show them around and just hadnt made the trip but now you can bet when it’s time for guests, we will be there! Thank you for the memories; we look forward to more.

We love our stays at Beachview and Castaways over the last 22 years. The staff was so friendly, accommodating and genuine. My girls have grown up going to Beachview and Castaways.

My favorite thing about Castaways Cottages was nighttime shelling. My mom and I are pretty hard core about our shelling opportunities and the first time we came to blind pass was at 4 a.m. We got a ticket in the parking lot because I was too impatient to read the meter and we thought we’d be out before the park opened. While out there with my 8 year old budding shelling addict, sister in law and teenage niece in tow, we saw the cutest cottages and said to ourselves … “how do we get to stay there?!” Soon after, we booked our first night in the (then) green cottage duplex. We were in heaven with unlimited shelling. Loved the screened porches and rustic living-on-the-sand feel. It was perfection. We felt we had found a secret place. We brought select friends and family back to our newfound slice of heaven over the next two years. Made lots of memories in a short time: plastic kites from the gift shop stuck in palm trees, “riding” the tide in the bay, finding some show-worthy whelks, playing with fallen coconuts, drinking wine, digging sand forts, buying swag in the office…. I’m so happy I got that white castaways hat when I did :) forever in our hearts— a “secret” slice of heaven for so many

My family has been vacationing at Sanibel since the early 60’s when I was a wee little one. As an adult, I proposed to my husband at the Castaways in 1998, we’ve enjoyed numerous vacations, had two family reunions and just last year said goodbye to my mother with a beachside memorial service for her there. Castaways is part of our family mythology – from finding Junonias, dolphins swimming just feet away from us and kayaking with the manatees, it is common thread that helps hold our family together. We will be back when you are ready for us.

Castaways has been our absolute favorite for many years. Having your own pet-friendly cottage directly on the Gulf was a huge draw for us. We loved the quiet of Blind Pass compared to the “east end” of Sanibel. The ability to have a day pass for Tween Waters pool and bar was an added bonus. We hope and pray that Castaways will return in some shape or form…. Xoxoxo. #Sanibelstrong

My husband, my teenage daughter And I enjoyed our trip so much in 2018. This year we planned on coming back for a day trip to show the beautifully island to our older children as we had plans to stay in fort Myers beach. I’m so saddened by all this. God bless you all.

None of us had ever been, but we had heard so many wonderful things over the years. So I did an Internet search and found the adorable Beachview Cottages. From the pictures and the online reviews, they looked like just what we were looking for – a throwback to a simpler time in a beautiful ,relaxed location. My brothers and I, all in our 50s now, decided to bring Mom and leave spouses and grandchildren at home so that we could focus on our mom. We had never done this before and we’re not sure how it would go. Mom somewhat reluctantly agreed to the trip. Well it turned out to be the most beautiful, joyous week! Mom was smiling again. She loved walking down to the beach, collecting shells, and admiring the beautiful sunsets. She says she can’t wait to return- next time with her grandchildren! Please, please rebuild the cottages so that we can take our mom again with the whole family!
