Four Sanibel and Captiva Islands properties have united under the newly-named management company Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts. Formerly Rochester Resorts, ’Tween Waters Inn Island Resort & Spa (Captiva), Castaways Beach and Bay Cottages (Sanibel) and Beachview Cottages (Sanibel) have joined with West Wind Island Resort (Sanibel) to form this resort and property management group.
West Wind Island Resort held many of the same shareholders as Rochester Resorts, making a logical decision to merge with ’Tween Waters Inn, Beachview Cottages, and Castaways Beach and Bay Cottages. By combining all properties under the same organization, Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts will be able to share resources and combine efforts to provide guests a greater variety of accommodation options and experiences.
“Overall, the properties will maintain their own uniqueness, while working toward a common goal and mission,” says President and CEO of Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts, Tony Lapi. “We strive to provide a great island experience with value that results in a desire to return. That is and will remain consistent across all four properties and any additional properties we acquire.”
Originally founded as Rochester Realty in 1973, the name was changed to Rochester Resorts in 1979 when Beachview Cottages was purchased to join with the flagship property ’Tween Waters Inn. Castaways cottages joined Rochester Resorts in 1982 and merged with the marina cottages at Blind Pass in 1990 to form the Rochester Resorts management group known for over 25 years. With the addition of West Wind Island Resort in 2015, the executive team at Rochester Resorts changed the management name to Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts to represent the Island brand all four properties share.
Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts is led by Tony Lapi, President and Chief Executive Officer; Doug Babcock, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer; Jeff Shuff, Chief Financial Officer; and Rene Affourtit, Chief Administration and Human Resources Officer.
