Captiva Island, FL – Sanibel Captiva Beach Resorts has announced the promotion of Kim McGonnell to the position of Food & Beverage Director, responsible for all SCBR restaurants, weddings and special events food service, beverage service and client satisfaction.

A native of Southwest Florida for 30 years with extensive experience in barrier island high-volume restaurants, McGonnell was employed by Resort Restaurants Hospitality Group of Fort Myers Beach before joining Doc Ford’s Restaurant of Sanibel Island, where she served as General Manager over the course of a 12-year career.

At ‘Tween Waters Captiva, McGonnell has helped implement the expansion of TripAdvisor’s top-rated Old Captiva House, with its al fresco Garden Terrace (featuring a new, weather-friendly retractable roof). Additionally, she has overseen the successful launch of the highly-praised Shipyard Restaurant (adjacent to Old Captiva House), as well as the July launch of Crow’s Nest Steakhouse (with its second-floor, magnificent views of the Gulf of Mexico).

Noting that Shipyard has been named by regional media as one of the “Top 12 Dining Destinations in Southwest Florida” — along with outstanding reviews for the new Crow’s Nest Steakhouse — McGonnell says that “I’m honored and inspired by this promotion, and I’m blessed to get to work in paradise with a growing, evolving, exciting hospitality organization that focuses on highest quality and exceptional employee performance.”

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Kim as part of our team,” adds Doug Babcock, Chief Executive Officer. “Her experience and teamwork with our executive chefs, our comprehensive kitchen team and our front-of-house guest servers and ambassadors promises to wow guests for years to come!”
